FOR MEN   

1. Don't show up late especially on the first date. If you're going to be late, call and let your date know.  Nothing worse than feeling that the person doesn't care enough to be on time or being stood up.

 2. Don't talk about your ex-spouses or prior relationships.  If your date asks,  keep it brief unless asked.  NO full history disclosures on first dates! 

 3.   If you invited her out, then pay the check.  Women still appreciate a man paying her way.     

 4. Don't forget to compliment.  If you can't  find anything to compliment your date about,  then she is probably not your type. 

 5.   It may be chauvinistic, but yes, women still like their doors opened or their chair pulled out when dining.  It is very gentlemanly and is always impressive.  It only takes  a few seconds!  

 6.   Ask her about her interests and hobbies.  Don't spend hours  telling her about yours unless you both have the same interests. Allow her to do the lead in then take it from there. 

 7. Don't obviously eye other women walking by.  It is very rude.  It shows a lack of interest in your date.  If you are not interested in your date,  then excuse yourself and call off the date.  Don't give false expectations.  Focus on YOUR date. 

 8. Don't grill her about her past relationships. When the time is right and you have moved on to more than one date, then it may be appropriate to discuss your past.  If it moves forward to a sexual relationship then sexually transmitted diseases should be discussed.  

9.   Don't answer your cell phone on your date!   No call is worth answering while you are out on a date.   Keep the focus on your date.

10. Don't ask her if she likes to cook unless she discusses it first.  You might come across as presumptuous and looking for someone to fulfill your needs.  Take on this issue slowly.

 12. Don't be too flashy with money or jewelry.  Show off's are a big turn off. 

 13. Don't get too intense about politics or religion unless she brings up the subject and is willing to discuss these issues further in depth.

 14. Bring up 'safe' topics like music, movies, shoes, hobbies and most of all listen to her first.

 15. Don't smoke even if she does. 

 16. Don't use poor choices in words such as foul language or that may be construed as degrading.  Show some class and leave the gutter words at home.  
Tips:

• Show up with a half dozen red roses w/ baby's breath.   Follow up by sending her a dozen roses the following day.   Having flowers delivered the following day is a great way to express your interest in her. 
• Take a shower!!!   Nothing like a refreshing smell and douse yourself with some alluring scent.   Play close attention to your teeth and breath.   Dating is as much about respect for yourself.  When you have self-respect and a clean appearance, it is a winning combination.
• Whether you are dating for friendship or towards a relationship, show that you respect her as a person and not just a bedding partner.  If you really want to find a woman for a long term relationship,  take it slow and enjoy the adventure of getting there.   .

1. Don't show up late and be ready when he comes to pick you up. If you're going to be late, call and let him know as soon as possible.  Be reasonable! 

 2. Don't talk about your ex-boyfriends or ex-husband unless he asks.  Keep it brief. 

 3. Don't drink beer from the bottle.  Show some class.  Yes, ladies, there is proper etiquette for the real woman. 

 4.  Remember,  it is much more enticing for a man to see a woman drink cocktails that are served in stemmed glasses.  Just think about how many movies portray women drinking from a bottle.  They are usually at a bar or  situated in a negative atmosphere.  Now think of the movies where they portray a woman drinks from a stemmed glass.  Yes,  they stereotype! BUT, a lot of it holds truth.  So why not use that stemmed glass?    

 5. Ask him about his interests and hobbies. Remember, this is a person with whom you want to share time with and perhaps work towards that special relationship.  His interests may soon become yours.

 6. Don't smoke.  Even if he smokes, don't.  

 7. Don't give helpless attitude.  A bitchy woman is such a turn off to just about all men.  They are looking for someone to have fun and to have good feelings.  Remember,  it all leads to that special relationship.

 8. Don't answer your cell phone.   Of course you should bring it on your date just in case you need it.   If you do want a friend to call you during the date to see if you are okay,  keep it short.   Give your date the full attention that you both deserve.  You could also use the call to end the date, if for some reason, it just isn't working out.  Just say your friend needs you and apologize for having to end the date.  This way it is in a public place and easier to leave.  Otherwise,  enjoy!

 9. Only wear high heels if you can walk gracefully in them.  Most men don't like to walk with a woman who appears to be clutzy.  Shorter heels are just as effective.  

 10. Don't put make-up on in front of your new date!!!!!   If you want to refresh, go to the restroom.  Or put it on before your date.  Don't appear to be unorganized,  be ready!  

11.   Number 10 also goes for at the restaurant table.  Refresh in the ladies room!! 

 12.  If you go dancing, keep focused on your date and not others.  Make eye contact with your date.  Show those dance steps to him.  During a slow dance slowly melt into him and let him guide you.  Yes, dancing is part of the flirting process, but it shows that you want to be close to him and giving him a sense of trust.    

 13.  If your first date is with a group,  don't gossip with your friends, or at least keep it to a minimum.  Your date might get the wrong impression and suspect that you are talking about him.  Change the subject if your friends question you about your ex boyfriend's).  Don't let them go there.  Show your positive personality and that you are better than gossip.  

Tips:

• It's important to keep your focus on the man you are going out with.   Most men still like treating their woman with manners and respect.   Call it whatever you like, but they do like to be the man in charge and making their woman feel special.  Being feminine is about a state of mind. Show it and the man will show you a lot more passion.   Remember to smile!!!!   If your goal is to really get to know your date then treat him that way.
• Yes,  some men may expect sex even on the first date.  Hopefully in your e-mails or online chatting with him via the dating service, you have established what you want and have made it clear what your intentions are.  If do not want to have sex until the relationship moves progressively forward, then expressing yourself before the date is the right thing to do.
